EB Exclusive???? Sony Backflip On Backwards Compatibility
I was in EB Games yesterday and the sales girl there said that Sony were putting the backward compatibility chip back in the PS3. What the...Is this a Cynical Gamer exclusive, or, EB talking crap. I haven't read anything about this anywhere. Apparently they received an email yesterday saying that the chip was going to be placed back in to the PS3. There you go, Sony fans rejoice, the rumble pack will be coming back to the controllers and the backward compatibility chip will be coming back to the PS3. Then you will have the option to play those PSOne games which you will never play again. You know that you won't play them, but as long as you have the option to do so.

I think you and I both know that this is just standard EB crap. Surely you are not naive enough to believe that Cynical Gamer. Firstly, the consoles for the Australian Launch have already been sent to the retailers. Secondly, if they felt like being generous and reversing on the chip removal decision then they would be plastering that all over the net. Really though, how many people ever used their PS2 for PS1 games. Maybe for the first couple of weeks or a month until the owner purchased some new games for the PS2. Backwards compatibility is nice, but nowhere near needed. If they can provide compatibility for 1200 games like they are saying, that will be great.
