Stalker Is Gold - I don't believe it

It has been a monumental 7 year journey for the developers and probably a four or five year journey for me. The on again off again life of Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl just went to the next level as it was officially announced that the game went gold yesterday. I never thought it would happen. Now they are rushing those gold discs off to the manufacturers so that the game can actually hit the shelves.

I was loitering around my local EB last night and happen to spot the Stalker Limited Edition box on the counter. I asked if I could have a look at it and the staff were more than willing to oblige. It does remind me of the time that I was in EB two years ago and they had put up Stalker Coming Soon boxes. At the time I had to laugh as I knew that the game had been put on the back burner and yet here was EB taking preorders for it. Then last night I couldn't believe that, after all this time, they were finally going to release the game. The Limited Edition box is nice. Very similar to the Gears of War Limited Edition box set.

On a side note, EB did have the coming soon boxes up for Bioshock. I said to the sales assistant that they had better take them down as the release date had been pushed back to August. He didn't believe me. He was quite sure that the game was coming out in the next month or so. He said that he had preordered it. lol
